About the Sea Star
The F/V SEA STAR is a crab and fish pot fishing vessel and fish tender designed for ocean service with a single diesel-oil propulsion engine, single shaft, propeller and single rudder.
The vessel is arranged with a single fishing deck aft and a raised full width steel forecastle and raised forward top house of framed steel. A single tripod mast is aft the house. The hull is steel, with a raked stem, mild sheer and mild flare and camber. An exhaust uptake is aft the deckhouse.
The vessel was built in 1969 from a Marco design at Marine Construction and Design of Seattle, WA as a fishing vessel. In 1986, ten feet of length was added to the stern at Marco Shipyard.
The vessel has a single deck with an 01 level and top house.
The 01 deck is a forward weather deck that carries anchor gear and moorage tackle, a raised deckhouse used as a navigation bridge, port and stb weather passages to aft the top house and an aft gallery overlooking the fishing deck. A tripod mast from the main deck is through and integral with the aft 01 deck.
The main deck is enclosed forward to accommodate a dry store forward, port and stb staterooms, a galley, head and access to the wheelhouse and engine room ladders. Aft is an anteroom with passage to the weather fishing deck. The weather deck aft is found with fishing equipment, a deck crane, and hatches to the holds. A fully enclosed, partial-width deckhouse is aft and encloses the hatch to the lazarette.
The hold/machinery deck (lower deck) is divided into (14) watertight compartments. Forward is a peak potable water tank. Next aft is a machinery space with propulsion and auxiliary machinery. Found also is hydraulic, fuel system and other ancillary machinery, as well as port and stb half-height fresh water tanks. Next aft is a centerline (forward) flooded/RSW hold with a centerline shaft alley below and fuel oil tanks in the wings. Next aft is a centerline (aft) flooded/RSW hold with fuel oil tanks in the wings. Finally, aft is a lazarette with steering gear and port and stb fuel tanks. A storage void is aft. A fuel oil tank is aft.
