If you are interested to have a vacation in Portugal, you can try your luck by going to places that are less known to the world like Faro. It is estimated around sixty thousand people who are residents of Faro, where most of them are the descendant of the older civilization that had settled in this city, like the Arabs and the Romans. However, most of the structures built by the older civilization here are pretty much destroyed by the disastrous earthquake that happened in the 18th century.

If you want to come to Faro, you can book flights into the international airport that is located really close to the city centre. Aeroporto de Faro reaches its peak during the summer holiday where there are thousands of passengers going in and out of the city to have a vacation at Faro. If you are more comfortable to drive to places here yourself rather than using the public transports, make sure that you utilize the car hire Faro airport services. In the airport, you are given a lot of option to choose your preferred cars, from the small and budget ones to the more expensive and luxurious cars and MPVs.

One of the municipalities inside Faro will be the Alcoutim city. It is a city with a total area of around 200 square miles with a pretty small number of residents, which is just around four thousand. Despite that, it is still quite a decent tourism spot for those who come to Faro for a vacation because Alcoutim has a couple of historical sites left by the older civilizations that once lived in this very city. One of the historical structures in Alcoutim will be the Alcoutim Castle. Most of the castles inside Portugal originated from the Moorish architectural style and Alcoutim Castle is the same. This castle is located to the south-eastern side of Faro and it is believed that the castle is built during the 13th century. From this castle, you will be able to see the surroundings areas of Alcoutim because this castle is located on top of the hill of Alcoutim.

A visit to this part of Faro will be a great chance for you to appreciate and know what the Moors have done to this piece of land to make it a prosperous country today.
